A primitive home kitchen is easy to achieve. The first step is to paint your walls a deep red or brown which will really bring out the primitive accents that are used to decorate the rest of the room. Old cast iron skillets can be hung on the walls. If skillets aren’t your thing try stars made out of cast iron. Pictures of Prairie fields or old time houses are also great ideas for primitive home decor in your kitchen. Setting your table with ceramic plates will add to the atmosphere. Try using a solid wood table in a dark color it will seem more like the tables used in the early days of this country.

Just like in your kitchen you should paint the walls in the living room an earthy color I like deep reds or dark greens. Tan can even be used as an accent color on boarders or door frames.
